i need to tell this guy i like him because im really scared that if he likes me without knowing i like him he wont ask me to the dance thats coming up. how can i tell him without making a complete fool of myself?

I wish a girl would have approached me like this, hehe. I wouldn't have thought bad of her no matter what when I was in school. I would have said yes just for the idea that I was asked instead of me having to ask.
Anyway, just ask the guy if he's going to the dance. If he says yes (which he probably will) then ask if he's going with anyone. If he says he's not, there's your chance to just ask him. If he says he is, well you don't have to worry about "looking like a fool" since you didn't ask and set yourself up for him to say no.

If you're sure that he doesn't have a date currently, then muster all your nerve and courage... just tell him how you feel and ask him.
"(name), I really admire you for (reason[s]); I haven't found a date to the upcoming dance yet... and I decided I'd like to go with you. Will you take me to the dance?"
See how it turns out sweetheart and have fun if he accepts... stay outta trouble... just for safety.

Hang out with him, one on one.... create a warm bond from your heart and bring up the topic of the dance later. Ask who he plans to go with? When he asks you tell him honestly you don't know. Then see how he responds, or whether he asks you.
When he sees you spending time with him, he will feel more confidant asking you.
If it still doesn't come up, ask him out yourself! :-)

I think that you should write him a note or text/talk to him and ask him be like would you like to go to the dance with me I really like you? Guys like when you have the courage to ask them it shows you have a spark of interest. Good luck. :)

The best way to tell him is to use English. If talking to him face-to-face makes you nervous, then write him a note. Be honest and simple about it.
