A Chihuahuas's ears should start standing up by age 6 weeks old,but only a few require a little longer time.Sorry to contridict the other answer, but Chihuahuas ears should never be clipped and should stand on their own.I've raised Chihuahuas for many years.

Each Chihuahua is different. The muscles around the ears have to strenghthen. Just give it some time. I have #3 4 month old Chihuahuas, #2 of them had their ears up at about three weeks, and #1 still has them down. Either way, they are still really cute. I just call my third puppy, my floppy eared Chihuahua.

Some chihuahuas ears will stand up almost from about 4 weeks old. A few will not stand up good until they are a few months old. Some pups' ears will never stand up. It doesn't mean they are not purebred. Some people will tape them to get them to stand when they do not stand on their own.

no no no the Chihuahua's ears are not clipped and they will have their ears up to stay when they are six months old. some do it at four months. and their ears will lay back against their head at times but they are still shape the same as when they hold them up. my chihuahua lays her ears against her head when we are playing some times. but they will come up and keep that shape.
