Does believing that people worship him so they can get rewarded after they die make your statement true? If it does then does that make what the people say who believe that there is a heaven and a hell false?

I wouldn't care if there was a Heaven or a Hell I would still worship God because He is wonderful.

It may have started out that way, but I attend church every week as many times a week as I can because I love Jesus for what He did for me. Hell is the grave. We will all go there unless we are taken before we die. Do not know about a heaven that we will inhabit, but there is a kingdom of God. Jesus called it 'my Father's house'. Not all people are as shallow as you say. I love God enough to worship Him. Do you?

no..i think humans always do things in order if there's something in it for themselves...they may not realize it but 99% of the time, that is the case..it's just human nature. The 1% who genuinely believe or do things with no ulterior motives are people like gandhi and martin luthur king jr...nothing was guaranteed but they did what they thought was right anyway. So yeah, i think that the bible has hell and heaven so people would know WHY they're following it, and why they should think it's the holiest thing

I think their would have always been a mass religion that many people would believe in whatever the exact details are. It is in our human nature to believe the irrational without question and it is only recently, since the mass education of western society and the adoption of more rational thought processes in the whole, that religion is starting to be questioned so widely.
In other words yes, if the alternate religion you suppose also had the idea of 'God'.

Why wouldn't you worship the Creator of all?
Heaven is just a bonus.

Yes, if for no other reason than we have no possible scientific reason for the start of the universe. The Big Bang may have happened, but you can't have something come out of nothing without a supernatural explanation.

It's not just the consequences of believing/not believing in him. It's also for gratification for creating us and such. I'm thankful to him, just like you'd be thankful to someone who did a nice thing to you.
