ask your friend how she feels if you were to dat the guy. and take it from there i wouldnt ruin a friendship for a guy though.

I have been in this exact same situation. Well when we both knew we like the same person it was basically a race to get to her first.
I won the race but i got rejected and after my friend saw how embarrased i was he didn't even ask her out.(the loser)
me and my friend are still friends a year after this event.
He IS fair game. all is fair in love and war.
rejection is not that bad i know from experience. all that happens is life stays the same and that is fine.

That's tricky.
I would say both of you leave it be. Then you two can joke about it together years later like "remember that time we both liked the same guy!"
It'll avoid fighting over the guy and potentially tearing up a friendship
Remember, friends are much much much more important then boys.

that is just too hard and complicated. just try to forget about it. you both are friends and you dont want to fight over it. it sucks that you both love the same person, but i personally think that a friendship is more valuable. how about if the person doesnt like either of you? are you sure that it will last? try to think of the options and consequences. is this a life long relationship? will you really be happy? if you want to lose your friend then do it. but that just sucks. that would be really b i t c h y!!!!!!!!!!! please dont do that.

Not for you to say, that is his decision. The word "love" is floated about far too freely. How can you love someone that you don't know intimately, maybe a crush or infatuation.
