"My personal favorite is the Miniature Dachshund. They are smart, loving, have great personalities, do not have a doggie odor, dont shed much and are just plain adorable. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get a dog. They need to be kept indoors though, and they demand lots of love and attention. "
Actually they have an awful doggy odor. I own one and I have expierenced it almost every night. Alot of small dogs have anal glands that fill with a very, very stinky liquid/gas. If they have this problem unless you get the glands expressed by a vet they will express themselves and it is not pleasant. Still I would not want any other dog. They are so loyal and if you are upset they know and want to help you. The are great house dogs and lap dogs.
If you get a house dog be aware, you can actually litter train them. It sounds crazy but they do sell dog litter boxes and litter but we just use cat litter. It saves alot of time and you never have to go out in the cold/rain/heat/ect. Small dogs get cold eaisly so I think it is best to litter train them. Miniature daschunds cannot control their bladders until they are like 6 months old so be forgiving unil then. The do try.

If you are referring to dog breeds, i would suggest a boxer. They are playful, energetic, intelligent, and have low maitenance coats, however i do not know the size of dog you are talking about.
If you mean dog product brands, definitely get kong toys, they come in a variety of sizes for different types of dogs, small, medium, large. They are practically indestructable. Also, for flea & tick treatment, stick with Frontline.
