Randy Coutore is coming out of retirement to challenge Tim Silvia in the heavyweight division for the championship. Personally, I think it may be a mistake on Randy's part for the combination of two reasons. First of all, Randy is no old man just yet, but he's not exactly a fighter in the middle of his prime-hell, hes well passed it. Randy's age in combination with the fact that the Militiche Camp will have intense momentum and vengeance as motivational forces at UFC Uprising, I think, will spell nearly DEFINITE defeat for Randy Coutore.

If you didn't already know: Rich Franklin, Matt Hughes, and Tim Silvia are all three from the same training camp and there will be a tremendous amount of support for one another come fight night. And as I mentioned above, both Matt AND Rich will be fueled by vengeance.

the natural is still is damn great shape. he ain't in the UFC HOF for nothing. i think he'll beat the Maniac for the title then end up getting a beat down for Cro Cop.

and Ace and Hughes will pull for Silvia but they all have great respect for Coutore.

Yes, it is true Randy is coming out of retirement to fight Tim Silvia. I saw the interview and I think Randy is right. Tim is being too cautious and it will cost him the belt. Remember that Randy was a heavyweight champion. I'm wondering who the other three fights are going to be against. Arvloski, Cro Cop, and who? There's not a lot of competition in the heavyweight division right now. Mir hasn't been the same since his accident.

Even though I like the Miletich fighters the best, I would like to see Randy win. But in the past Randy hasn't fared too well against heavier fighters. I don't really think this is a good matchup for Randy but because of the lack of good heavyweights in the UFC they have to come up with something until Cro Cop takes over. UFC is in for a rude awakening with Mirko coming in. They haven't seen kicks like that before.

Couture has the experience to take on a much larger man, as he is one of the original UFC champions back when you took on all comers despite size or weight class. However, Silvia is no pushover and has a remarkable defence against takedowns. My take is that unless Couture can "get under" Silvia and take him down, he is going to have some problems with Silvia's "one mile reach".
I do think that Couture sees some chink in Silvia's armor that he feels he can take advantage of, and he is very tactical in his fighting. I still wonder if he can pull it off. If so he will have a hard time holding the title from guys like Andrei Arlovski, who's power poses the same problem for Couture that it did with Chuck Liddell.

Good luck Randy, you'll need it!

I don't think it is necessarily a forgone conclusion that Randy will get knocked out. Sylvia has his weaknesses and if Randy has done his homework he has a chance.

Monson could have taken him if he had a better reach and perhaps more insight into how to take advantage of Sylvia's weaknesses.

I would definitely love to see Sylvia taken out. It feels like his reach and knock out power are the only things going for him. I feel like a title holder should be more than just the reach of his arms.

I still do not see how anyone knows for sure that CroCrop will come in and reign supreme. Until I see him in the ring for myself I don't want to be going on 2nd hand information.

I think Randy can find Tim's weak spot, if ANYone can.
Unfortunately, CroCop is also in that division, and I've heard only good things about him. I'd much rather see him defeat Sylvia, than to clock Randy.
Of course if Randy DOES beat Sylvia, you KNOW there will be a PPV rematch before CroCop gets a crack at the title.

Tim (Sylvia) is an over sized kid with k/o power and a great sprawl
but that's it, his sprawl is only good if you shoot from the out side but as far as being in the clinch he has no take down defense from their and Randy is a great wrestler with good fake outs and decent stand up Tim has no chance, Randy wins by (TKO)

and as far as Hughes and Franklin they were spoon fed their
fighters so of course their going to win..

I think Randy has a better chance than most others in the HW division and if anyone can pull it off its him, although I wouldnt put any money down on him.

And by the way, Rich Franklin has trained with the Miletich camp in the past but he doesn't live in Iowa and he doesn't train with them on a regular basis.

If Randy can avoid Tim's punches and apply a submission to Tim, he may have a chance.

I think Randy thinks he can beat Tim Silva, and he wants to get back in before cro cop takes the title, which he will.
