well i have a mini pin and shes awsome, mini pins are just the best, they are obedient, loyal, intellegent, and Protective( as much as the can lol =]) and very cute! and every jack russel i ever had, were too rambunctious and always gave me problems with shedding and smelling, and had TOO much energy, always in the neighbors yard, and little terrorist's. always chewing on my furniture, and everything else. but my mini pins were the TOTAL oposite. but you know do some research, and do what you think is right.

I would suggest the mini pinscher, however I say this because I personally am not a fan of jack russel's at all. Everyone i have met have been completely high strung and disobedient, but thats not to say they are all like that.

Russell Terrier Temperament
Bold and friendly. Athletic and clever. At work he is a game hunter, tenacious, courageous, and single minded. At home he is playful, exuberant and overwhelmingly affectionate. He is an independent and energetic terrier and requires his due portion of attention. He should not be quarrelsome. Shyness should not be confused with submissiveness. Submissiveness is not a fault. Sparring is not acceptable. Fault: Shyness. Disqualification: Overt aggression toward another dog.

Miniature pinscher Temperament
Fearless animation, complete self-possession, and spirited presence.

Do more research before deciding.

jack russell is pretty hyper, if ya want a pincher go for the full size, but the best dog you can get, is the dog discarded on the side of the road. Picked up one just this week, had it washed and groomed and fed, and he never leaves our site. A dog that spends a wintery cold and wet night and brought in from the cold will always be a companion you'll be proud to say he's yours! I just wish you could look into his eyes!

Just be aware Jack Russel Terriers are EXTREMLY high strung dogs. They are like a kid with ADHD. The jump and run and go crazy if not paid attention to and sometimes even when you do. This does not make them a bad pet though.

I think the miniature pincher is a cuter dog, but a jack rusell is very good at doing tricks and is a very fun dog.

first somone suggested you get a full size pincher those are two compleatly and totaly unrlated breeds to tell the truth jrt and min pins have more in common that min pins and dobermans they are both desighed to hunt small game i.e. rats and such i dont know alot about min pins but jrt are about the most hyper dog aside form rat terriers i have ever seen that tends to make them extreamly hard to train

I'd go with the JRT. BUT they are hunting dogs. If your neighbor has, for example, a $1500.00 cat that you don't want to pay for, maybe the JRT might need a lot of supervision.

A better dog to get would depend on where you live.Do you live in a city,is your house small or big?if you don't have much room in your house, you could get a small dog,if you have a roomy
kind of house your option would be to get a medium to large kind of dog.
