Depends on which one, which caliber, and what condition. NIB condition larger calibers will fetch $650 or more, but you can buy a model 19 in good condition for around $300.

If you don't know much about guns buy a used Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver. You want a gun for self defense?
A revolver is quicker and easier to learn to use effectively.
Want an overpriced toy to brag on? Run right out and get that glock like you saw in a video. Don't count on 17 loud misses to do as much damage as one good, solid hit, though.

I bought my Model 23 with adjustable sights a year and a half ago at a local gun shop in Indiana for $525 plus tax. Extra mags, holster, mag holster and ammo added another $150. I would say if you found a used in good condition with the extra mag it was supposed to come with, $450 would be about right.
