Adjusting grown cats to a puppy is possible but it is a lot of work. And yes, you might actually see some fighting. If you don't care for animals and if you do not want to spend A LOT of time socializing them, leave things as they are!

A dog will NOT make your son manly -being a good and understanding father will.

How 'bout a lizard? The right kind of lizard can make the best pet. Do some research. Plus, boys just love those off the wall pets.

you did not say how old he is that would be a help. Is he old enough to care for an animal take care of it by hisself and treat it right? If so then maybe you should sit down and talk to him and see what he would like to have. I agree that i believe animals are good for kids growing up teaches them to care for something and good old companian ship too.

well he can have a cat too.. just be wary and keep a good vigil on them when they interact.

a dog may be the best for a boy though. they have the same tendencies. active, hyper, always on the go...

...i just put three synonyms in the same sentence.

My cat and dog are the best of friends, you just need to show them that they are both there to stay and they need to get used to it and each other.
