I got a Pentax *ist DL; 6M. Set at at 6M, the best quailty! Can't print in over 4x6? Resoultion? What gives?!

I just bought this camera. And I got it for the sole purpose of printing portraits at least 8 x 10 and maybe a bit larger. I try to order prints in that size and it developer says resolution is too low! What? Took to Walgreens, same thing. Tried to order online..same thing! I'm hurt

Besides the actual pixels, you can change the compression with your camera. Check to be sure that you are in the best image mode. You want the large 3008x2008 pixel size and the best jpeg quality. It is designated "Best" or 1/3 compression. It is shown with 3 stars on your function menu. (***)
