Cabela's has it and it is in stock right now. You can also find 5.7 ammo at GOOD gun shops. It is not overpriced and is cheaper than .50 handgun ammo.

Good luck finding it in stores. It is basically a military load that FN designed to fit it's new P90 self defense pistol on the late 1980's. I was originally made to replace the 9x19mm caliber, and it claimed better ballistic performance, but this was not the case. No major country has adopted this new chambering. It is similar to the 221 Fireball, but these two should NOT be interchanged. That doesn't mean you can't find the ammo, it is just all the info I have on hand.

FN is currently the only manufacturer producing 5.7x28mm ammunition and is importing it to the states. That said they themselves use Hornady bullets and Hornady sells reloading equipment for the cartridge. I have also heard that Wolf is attempting to obtain rights to begin producing it.

FN was trying to keep the 5-7 for law enforcement only, but they are selling it to the public at Bass Pro Shops. If they sell the pistol, they should be selling the ammo.
FN makes the ammo, and so does Hornady. Try this link:

They have it, but it is mailorder.

The ammo, avalible in two different bullet types is currently produced and exported to the U.S. by Fabrique Nationale, the maker of the pistol. I believe it can be ordered by individuals in most states directly from J&G sales.

FNH USA makes bullets for their own guns, that is why they are the only ones that make guns for that caliber. They make it in three diffrent bullets and the normals ones are a 40gr. Hornady V-Max bullet that is a ballistic tip and the also have a full metal jacket.

Why would you wont a gun that utilizes hard to find ammo?
If you feel it’s an investment, don’t worry about the ammo and invest away.
Where as if you wont to shoot it, it very well may not be the most economical choice.
I would consider a weapon with Readily Available Ammo.
And there the choices are numerous.
