its windows xp-ive tried various virus checkers but it cant find anything ive also tried system restore-please help if u can

my best bet is the power button in the front of your pc gets stuck once you press it, that is, its short-circuiting the power on circuit. or its near that, in any case, that could turn you pc off by itself after a whila. try unpluging the wires that go from the power button to the motherboard. you can even use the reset button as a substitute. if that does not solve it, open the power supply and clean the accumulated dust. Oops! before all of that, it would be a good idea to clean your pc's interior as well. Sometimes it works. Specially the fans. Check if the processor's fan is working. If not, the processor is getting too hot and shuts down the system.

is it a legal copy you have installed? if it is go to Microsoft.com and and look at FAQ
If it is not a legal copy and it as been updated then it will be Mr MS closing you down
