Youth are interested in sexuality and may try to obtain knowledge through depictions of sex through the media. Sexuality is completely natural and is not at all corrupting our youth. Parents should use these media & sexuality blurbs as "teachable moments" so they can give their kids accurate information about sex.
Violence however...violence can corrupt youth, and should be monitored closely by parents. Violence towards animals is a strong indicator that children will show maladaptive behavior later in life. I believe that extreme violence shown to youth at a very young age can be dangerous.

I think it is sex even though violence is up there too. Teens are being overexposed more and more to sex in every shape, form, and outlet you can think of. When I was in middle school, more of my classmates were known for being sexually active than being violent and it was the same in highschool. The days of holding hands and first kisses have taken a back seat to sex.
I think it only continues to get worse because sex is portrayed as a casual act rather than something that is important, intimate, and something that should be done when you are emotionally and mentally mature and ready. It's not just a physical act, because what follows after once the 'act' is over can be hard for people to handle, especially if you're too young.

A serious depiction of Violence and its consequences is not corrupting, and niether is a frank depiction of sex.
It is the quick, and (at the risk of sounding like an old man) disrespectful depictions of both sex and violence probably are.

Neither.
Telling kids that it is NOT okay to indulge in these things, but at the same time, depicting it, is whats corrupting youth.
its been proven that teens will go out and do things 100 times over ONLY because the majority tells them NOT to do it.
thats why so many teens have abused alcohol so much now.
but at the same time, their parents and their leaders in their communities (many of whom have used some form of drugs back in the 60s-80s) tell them that cannabis is dangerous.
i am starting to believe there is some type of conspiracy. im serious. the world is just too backwards running.

both. i'm a teen myself. it's a shame we're surrounded with these things at a young age. if we're like this now just imagine how the next generation is going to be. but i can't put all the blame on the teens because parents are a big part in this too. parents need to talk to their children at an early age, by the time some do it's too late. they're already grown and they are going to do what they want regardless of what the parents say. but fortunately, we have some that don't get wrapped up into sex and drugs. that actually want to do something positive with their lives.

i definitely think it is the violence. we become immune to it. if an advertisement lasting 30 seconds on tv can influence buying patterns (and advertisers make their living cashing in on it) then it makes sense that hours and hours of viewing violent acts will have a negative impact. sex, per se in the media isn't the problem. the problem is it being shown as having no consequences and irresponsibly. not to mention the fact it is not portrayed realistically.

sex is a natural and beautiful thing.
you are here today because your parents had sex.
violence is not natural. violence is terrible.
violence has a far greater corrupting effect on our youth.
but unfortunately, our government does not seem to realize this.
this is why TV and movies aimed at kids are full of violence, yet sex and nudity gets labeled as "adults only"

well, the violence is not real, and the sex is not either, and besides, they are going to see at least one of those two in their life at some point.
