Nope, it doesn't hurt..... truly...... like someone else said it's afterwards that's the worst - not being able to eat properly..... cuz you use your tongue to move food around in your mouth......
Do it - you'll love it..!!

When u first get it pierced take a deep breath and close ur eyes (a good artist will tell) and u will only feel a little pressure but the actually piercing doesn't hurt. Now the after care will leave ur tongue sore like u bit it or something but here's a secert. As soon as u leave take 4 ibuprofen then a FEW (more than 2) hours later that 3 then 2 then one but read the bottle so u don't over dose. when i did this it help keep the swelling down and help me hide it at work. Oh yeah they have this stuff called H2Ocean that cleans it for u and keep swelling down. GOOD LUCK.

Had a good friend get it done, and as some others have said, the healing process was the worse. They did have to pierce hers twice, because the first one didn't come through straight. That probably made it worse, but she suffered for 2-3 weeks really bad. Especially when she first got up in the morning.
Good Luck if you do go ahead with it. I'm sure you will survive, just don't think about it before. When you start to think about it and feel scared, push those thoughts out of you mind by thinking of something that makes you really happy!

ok. i actually have two tongue piercings and let me be the 1st to say it doesn't hurt. Ther's a slight pinch when the clamps are used to hold your tongue in place, but the jewelry will be in and you won't realize it. It will swell almost instantly, and will stay that way for about 5-7 days. Don't drink alcoholic stuff for the first week cuz it can swell horribly. Good advice ---drink lots of slushies. the coolness feels good and helps with swelling. No oral sex for at least a month cuz you could get an oral yeast infection! you should but some enamel enhancing toothpaste cuz tongue rings can chip the enamel off ya teeth. Enjoy!!

I got my tongue pierced a few years ago and I was terrified. I'm scared of needles and I almost hyperventilated when I went in there.
BUT!
When they are checking for the vein in your tongue, they clamp it to keep it flat and shine a light through it. While they are clamping it, your tongue goes numb and by the time they actually pierce it, you can't feel a thing. It was over with before I knew it. I felt silly for being afraid in the first place.

seriously, it's not that bad at all.
i've had a lot of things pierced, and my tongue hurt almost the least.
only problem is that it's hard to talk for about a week or so,
and when i say hard, i mean impossible.
worth it though! loveeellyy little piercing.
so, make sure you have a bit of time off work before you get it done if you work with the public.

it doesn't hurt, but if your a painaphobe, don't get the ni pples done. It hurt soooooo bad, I bit through my cigarette's filter, ALL the way through!
Be really careful of infection, I listerined after everthing, and the surface of my tongue peeled off in chunks, now my tongue is all cracked and ugly.
Just don't let piercings and tats become an addiction

Sure it will hurt. After you get it done, your tongue will swell up quite grotesquely and you will have a difficult time talking for a while. Then, once it's healed, you will still sound like you can't enunciate your words and the bar can chip your teeth....I don't recommend it. But if you do decide to get it done, make sure who ever does it is clean and sterile and give you information on how to take care of it.

Well I've heard that piercing your belly botton hurts worse than doing your toungue. I know a lot of people who has done it (many of them did it themselves) and they said it didnt hurt. If you do get the guts to do it, make sure and take VERY good care of it, sweety! Good Luck!!

You can talk, eat etc. you just need to be careful during the healing time.. follow your piercers after care info... look online to for aftercare hints and tips. The piercing itself doesn't really hurt because it is so quick - compared to the nose, I think it is less painful so you should do fine...

i have no clue if it hurts but i've had my lip pierced and according to the lady that pierced my lip getting your tounge hurts about as bad as getting your lip but sometimes a little worse and my cousin told me that the pain of getting your tounge pierced is totally worth it and he said the most acurate pain to getting your tounge piered is putting a 9 volt battery on your tounge for a minute haha
