what are the preferred supplies for a hike. More like walking the trail sort of thing. I don't know if there snow up on the mountain right now but I think there shouldn't be any at this point yet. This is a one day walking the trail thing, I am not camping or anything. Thanks.

Greetings - Where are you headed? this is very important let me know that and I can help you much better. I would start off with a Mountain Expedition Ruck Sack - that is my own rucksack of choice after 5 years of Backpacking I would get the Alpine model it is simply brilliant.

you didn't indicate how cold it will be, if its going to be 30 or less, wear long johns, jeans, 2 layers of socks, hiking shoes, heavy shirt w coat over it, fleece lined gloves, warm hat that covers ears.
A one day hike, less your scaling mountains you don't need anything special.

Just don''t get lost and then the one day walk ends up longer. Make sure you can find your way back. Bring food. Eating keeps you warm.

Of course, be sure to take plenty of water. I would probably also want to take a first aid kit, just in case. Mosquito repellant may be a nice thing to take. Of course, I would probably also take something to snack on. Would probably not want to take much more than this. Wouldnt want to be loaded down too much.
