Baking soda is good. I think mixing a little with your toothpaste helps it clean and whiten better.

My son, listen to what I have to say, because it will take a lot of money from the merchants pocket and put it back in your pocket, where it will do you good. Just get some baking soda and put some into a small dish. Then put toothpaste on your toothbrush and dip it on the baking soda and brush. This is the only way to withen your teeth besides bleaching, which will harm them. Other tips to keep your teeth whiter is to brush as soon as you drink coffee, drink red wine-which stain teeth permanently if used regularly....Try this, you're like it. KECK

When my sisters and I were growing up and they did not have teeth whitening stuff available really, we used hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Don't do it too often though because I think that it is rough on your tooth enamel. It does work though. Also, whenever I use whitening toothpaste after drinking a lite beer, my teeth are instantly whiter!

WHITENER:

A great teeth whitener is to mix equal parts baking soda and sea salt, then brush your teeth with it. It leaves them feeling clean. If you cannot use the salt due to blood pressure problems, that's ok, just use the baking soda and it should work the same. Rinse mouth with warm water afterwards

I have used baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, which is discouraged by dentists as peroxide is slightly corrosive and can "etch" the tooth enamel, but in a pinch if you use it once in a while it does brighten, no need to do it daily though.
