this happens to me on occasion. i think it's just like when you're sitting in a funny position and your foot falls asleep and it takes a couple of minutes for the feeling to come back, and it hurts but tickles at the same time... you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

i think this happens to me because i usually sleep on my back but sometime during the night i end up on my stomach with my arms underneath. this is probably what is happening to you too.

having it happen to both arms is the worst... believe me.

haha, funny story though... when i was in europe last year on a school trip, i woke up in the middle of the night with absolutely no feeling in either arm. i attempted to move one, but by doing so i had no control and my arm knocked a huge cup full of water that was on the nightstand onto the floor with a loud crash. my roommate pretty much leaped out of bed and was like, "What the *^#****^%$!!!!"

It can be from a pinched nerve or a cutting off of blood circulation to the arm. Try not sleeping with your arm or arms above your head.

you probably sleep face down on your stomach and probably put your hands underneith your pillow or your arms are too bent while you sleep. I wake up felling like that every single day, its just that your circulation in your limbs is obstructed due to the way you sleep.

This happens because the blood all rushes to that one spot that is lowest and the surounding nerves twitch at the lack of blood which causes the tingelling.

Mine do that too, but when I got a craftmatic adjustable bed and started sleeping slightly upright it helped a LOT!

me too! almost every night! my doctor tells me it's a pinched nerve caused by the position that i sleep in...it's uncomfortable...i'd also love to know how to avoid it...sometimes it feels like it lasts sooo long - try sleeping in another position...
