everyone always says guys hate when their girl is clingy and needy.. but what exactly do you guys consider "too clingy" and do you REALLY hate it that badly. and what if the guy himself is really clingy at the beginning and texts/calls every night... but then is it normal for them to just go from being that clingy to not??! because this guy i have been dating was really clingy for like the past 3 weeks and now all the sudden he hardly talks anymore. (for like the past 3 days) i don't know if someone clued him in and made him feel stupid.. or is there perhaps a loss of interest? but he was just all talkative to me like 3 days ago... but then all the sudden.. i don't know what happened.. because i haven't done anything wrong i don't think.. i haven't done anything different.

There is a fine line here, which is really hard to tell when a girl becomes 'clingy.' Personally, I have never liked the clingy type. It seems nice at first, but very quickly it becomes annoying. Everyone needs their space, their own time to do their own thing.
Now the fact that he was clingy at first, and now suddenly isn't talking does seem strange. Maybe he realized he was doing it and wanted some time to give you some space. Maybe he was hoping for something in those first three weeks and suddenly he has lost interest. There's no way I can help answer that part.
In all honesty, what you need to do is talk to him. People don't talk to each other enough, they rely on 'signals' and guesswork to figure out what someone else wants/needs/is thinking. This is where problems start because everyone is different, and we use our own personalities to try and figure out other people.
So I would say sit down and talk to him. And truthfully talk with him in person, not over the phone or thru emails/text msgs, etc. Be straightforward and honest, tell him exactly what you've asked here. Let him know he seemed clingy and now suddenly it seems as if something is wrong. Tell him what you think and feel. You would be surprised at what a simple sit down can accomplish. It lets you tell him where you stand and he can tell you where he stands.
Above all else, ask for honesty. Don't get upset at what he may say, but LISTEN to him, and ask that he do the same for you. By knowing what each of you wants/expects, forms trust and a better understanding of each other.
Good luck and I hope that advice helps some!

Yes, guys hate clingy girls, and by the way, when we do it, we might as well wear a skirt ourselves because guys who are clingy/needy are ten times worse than women with the same issue.
The only things guys hate worse than needy girls are whiny girls and girls who over-analyze everything when we're trying to sleep or watch the last three minutes of the Duke game. I mean, really, oh wait - gotta go. Good luck.

In my experience guys do not like clingy, needy women. It is not fun for anyone to feel that much responsibility for someone. If you put two broken needy people together that does not make them whole...you have two broken needy people who are draining one another. Better become a whole person and find someone who does not need you to complete them but to enhance them. Mmm

I hate it when girls are clingy and needy and I'm a female. You need to ask him why his behaviour has changed. No-one can guess what someone else thinks or intends.

Guys usually like clingy/needy girls because it makes them feel important.

A girl that doesn't give me enough space to do my daily chores (I am a busy guy) or take out from my time to do those things is too clingy. Also, people NEVER blame themselves it's a self-defense mechanism, you could be wrong and it was your fault.

secure guys find clingy unattractive. For those who have low self esteem and ego issues, they find it attractive but dont really respect the woman.
Hard to say why he has changed. You just have not known him that long yet. I dated someone briefly, as he was too clingy. He didn;t want ME...he just wanted SOMEONE...
