Is this puppy biting? Puppies don't know their own strength and human skin is not as tough as dog skin. In lue of the discipline done by the dog's mother or it's littermates, you have to step in and take their place. When the puppy bites you, yip as loud as you can to tell the puppy that he has hurt you. This will also startle him to back off. When he backs off, give him praise, verbally, not with your hands.
It is a part of puppyhood to be very oral in their attempt to discover the world around them. It's the same with human childen, everything goes in the mouth.

Holding the muzzle 'til it hurts, pinching the tongue 'til it hurts, pressing the lip over the tooth 'til it hurts, scruffing the dog and shaking it, and other similar physical means of discipline, in light of a better understanding of dog psychology, are no longer considered appropriate methods of training, and they just make a dog head shy.
Never use your hand to punish your dog. Your hands should represent affection. These are the hands that give him food and water, pet him, and clip on the leash. With proper discipline the dog will learn to respect these hands and what they do for him, not to him, and that what will make him stop biting your hands. Hands-on punishment will only contribute to the biting, as biting is the only way the dog can defend itself.
If the dog is an adult, I don't know how serious the biting is, and this is all I can offer you at this time, a bunch of links for you to look through. Something here might help in your situation.

If the dog is playfully nipping, stop flailing your hands and arms about, cross your arms over your chest, turn your back to the dog, stand still and say nothing. Ignore the dog. The dog will understand from your posture that you will no longer play, and it will walk away. If you shout at the dog, even a loud "no" sounds a bark. The louder you shout/bark, the more the dog will just think you are playing
If the biting is serious, as in an attack, someone can/will report it and the dog can/will be destroyed depending on the circumstances.

When she is biting you, pull her lip over her tooth just enough so that she bites herself - not hard but enough to where she realizes pressure. A friend recommended this is us and it solved our issues in less than a week. Dogs are really smart, but you still have to trick them a little sometimes.
Again, make sure she doesn't hurt herself. The point is to realize pressure, not necessary pain.

if it is a puppy then pinch his tongue and make sure it feels it and don't need to make it scream. if the dog is big and it is your dog then you could do the same by pinching it on the tongue or nose or ears. but make it hurt so it will soon get the message

your dog is biting because he sees you as inferior to him. You need to assert yourself, and everytime he bites you, say "NO" very loudly and walk away. That teaches him that his actions are not acceptable and that YOU are in charge, and will get him nothing but negative reactions. Good luck! I know it's not easy.

My mother used a spray bottle of water. She would spray the dog whenever she did something that mom disaproved of and she would shout "NO, BAD"... Gypsy was the best dog.
