If you like Toronto, If you like the life and the restaurants
and entertainment and the general life of the city. It was the immigrants that made it this way. Multiculturalism is the only way of life in today's world. All of the great cities on the planet are multicultural whether or not it is "OFFICIAL" government doctrine as it is in Canada. It is the racists that ruin the life in any city. Unless you are a First Nation's citizen, then it is YOU who is the imigrant; who refused to adopt the culture of the people who were here first!

Where the heck are you going in Toronto that most people don't speak English? I worked at Spadina and Queen for 4 years and didn't have any problems at all with "people who don't speak English".
Even if you're totally ethic shop in a totally ethic neighborhood, the clerk is going to speak English at least to some degree. Most everyone speaks English in the Toronto I live in.

No..quite the opposite...it adds to the city. Remember, many Canadians were already unable to communicate with each other long before recent immigration, as there are already about 25% of the population speaking French as their first language. Canadians are cool like that...Canada is made up of all sorts of people & that's why it's such a great country....Canadians will not only cope, but will thrive with the wonderful immigrants. It's not just english speaking people that are good people in this world.

U know best thing of Toronto is multi culturalism even if one cant speak English he can survive , he gets usualy get help within his comunity. people from Dif countires mostly prefer to live in the areas where their countrymen r living this helps them a lot.i-e Greek live in Danforth and PAPE chinese around China towns and Scarborugh, Koreans near Little Korea,Indians & Pakstani near Coxwell and Gerrard and Thorncliff park drive Indian Gujratis Mostly in Shapperd E and 401 Bangladesh arond Danforth and Victoria park Like wise many more.
So people dont feel Allien due to these ares last thing Belive me People in Toronto r really very friendly they really help new commers Bcz they realize one day they were on the same stage.
they will guide u Using public Transport Subway system etc

No, I have never encountered a problems when it comes to language. Most people who come at least attempt to learn English anyway. I know many people from differerent countries who've adjusted really well and help make Toronto a better and more interesting city.

That will never become a problem, as our two official languages are English and French. We will always have government services in both official languages. As for shopping and other things, you always have options not to shop at certain stores or not eat in certain restaurants. After all variety is the spice of life. With a poor attitude toward immigrants we will end up no better than the US and its views on Mexican and Mexican Americans.

It is usually only the first generation of immigrants that have difficulty with English.
My father was Polish and spoke 6 languages when he arrived in Canada. Yes, one of them were English. It's ashame more "Canadians" don't try to learn another language. .
I think multiculturalism is one of the greatest ways to teach tolerance.
I raised my kids in a "white bread" community north of Toronto and my daughter could not wait to leave so she could experience a community with more diversity. Good on her !

Instead of looking at is a problem, why not look at it as a new experience? Many newcomers don't speak English upon arriving, but the majority of immigrants to Toronto realize that to really get by in the city they need to learn English. That's why we have L.I. N.C. classes (Language instruction for New Comers) which are always fully enrolled and why we have E.S.L. (English as a second language) in our schools. Personally, I welcome new cultures to my city and would hope that I would be treated the same way were I to move to another city and new way of life.

Maybe it will be a problem for people like us who DO speak English because WE won't understand. As for them, they have their communities here...and it's great! Where else can you get the cultural experiences that we've been privy to in our own backyard?

why, what's wrong with, you maybe learning a new language so if you travel it would be easier ,or taste/try different foods instead of the same old same old bland thing that you eat every day. Grow up, experience differences it may just make you a better person.
