Since this is their only life, you'd think most of them wouldn't be in a rush to end it...?

I've certainly never heard of one, but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else has.

Never heard of one. Have you?

As I've heard it said, good people do good things and bad people do bad things, but it takes religion to make good people do bad things.

EDIT:

David T, you are an example. With that statement, you have cheapened the life of every person who has died at the hand of suicide bombers. When philosophical discourse falls into the same category as mass murder, then there is no hope left on the planet.

Seems very, very unlikely. Atheism is the lack of a belief of God only. Seems very unlikely an atheist would have a reason to attack someone like that based on the lack of belief. It doesn t make sense. An atheist might do something bad, but I ve never heard of anyone doing anything bad just because they re an atheist. That would be counter-intuitive. Atheists tend to be free thinking, intelligent, rational, reasonable people. People with those traits are unlikely to want to harm other people or themselves. Religious people however, tend to blindly follow and obey with out evidence or reason. They are controlled by fear, brain washed and delusional all to some degree. Those qualities lend themselves to doing insane things like suicide bombing. All the things that make cults and extremism dangerous resides in religious institutions, but usually to a lesser degree.. but it does make it possible and quite easy for them to be led down that path. Religion is an extremely dangerous force in this world and it has a choke hold on the advancement of society. It s a cancer on society. And anyway, atheists tend to not be easily led. We all have different views and ideas. The only thing that links us is a disbelief in God so we are all quite different. Since atheists tend to be rather intelligent and strong willed, we aren t easily lead. I ve heard that trying organize a group of atheists is like trying to herd cats.

Atheism isn't a very well organized set of beliefs, and has no leadership to speak of, so it would be very difficult for "atheist suicide bombers" to agree on a target, organize a movement, or convince themselves to act as the bomber.

Anyone who is a suicide bomber must be an atheist, as they don't believe in God. I don't know why they would want to end their life like that.

Of course not. This idea of suicide bombers only can be carried out by people with delusions.

No, I think since this is our only life we have to make the best out of it, try to have a good life and believe this for other people too, because it's their only life.

Funny, I can't recall ever hearing of people blowing themselves up after chanting verses from The Origin of Species...

EDIT: Russian Assassin, pull your foot out of your mouth before you suffocate and read the question again!

knowing i have only one life makes me want to use it in a productive way. not to throw it away.

and it may be just a question but words are powerful things and its all how you arrange them. your question does seem a little like you think most atheists want to kill themselves

2007-01-13 13:30:59 · answer #9 · answered by god_of_the_accursed 6 · 1 0

Why are you trying to do that?? Just shove all atheists into a catigory of crazy people that will kill everyone else, all that does is make the real crazies go and kill the innocent people who you put into that group.

Knock it off.
