Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

You are correct in that sin is the cause of what could possibly be perceived as hell on earth. Can religion save people? No it cannot I'm afraid. Religion is the cause of most wars in the modern era, and for what? They can't all be correct, though they all basically say exactly the same thing, just said different. Religion should bring everybody together, but it doesn't. Religions express much hate as well as love, its the hate which is so wrong in religion. The sooner all people come to the belief that we are all here just for the one ride of a lifetime, and nothing else, the sooner people live for today and not be fooled into another existence the better. There is so much death, hate for one another etc and religion is based at the heart of it all. After all, man himself wrote all of them, and people follow it.
Put it this way. If I became a self proclaimed prophet or messenger from God etc, would you believe me?? No very unlikely, so why believe people from hundreds to thousands of years ago? Seems crazy! Especially when these religions were written in pretty primitive times, why believe stories by these people?
Of course I would love to think of another existence, of a caring loving God who loves all, and a happy afterlife where everything is peaceful and just perfect. But what real prove is there? Nothing. So can religion save people? I genuinely hope that it can, but I don't see how.

If you believe that "sin is the reason why people [are] heading [for] hell," then you have to reflect on whether or not organized religion actually helps anyone keep from "sinning."

I have never seen an organized religion keep its members from "sinning." If anything, many organized religions offer their members ways to continue "sinning" because they believe that they can always be forgiven of their "sins." People typically don't stop to think about whether or not something is a "sin" until AFTER they have already done it and then it doesn't matter because they can simply ask for forgiveness. Since forgiveness comes so easily, the fact that they shouldn't be "sinning" doesn't come up until after they have already done so and then it doesn't matter that much because they believe that no matter what they do they can be forgiven.

Accountability among religious people and within organized religions is a major problem.

If you read the Bible you will find that religion does not save, per se. Jesus said:
John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

Note that 'religion' was not the point. The rituals that are practiced today are no the point. Just believing in Jesus, and trusting him for the salvation he provided for us on the cross is enough for salvation.

"Religion' opens the door for all sorts of things that are not a part of what he said would save us.

So trust in him and that will prevent us from going to Hell.

I hope that made it clear that 'religion' is a distraction, trusting God is the point of it all.

You are on the right track. It is not just any religion though. The belief that Jesus can save you from hell and give you eternal life is more like it. If a person dies and goes to hell, it is not because of his sins, but because of his non-acceptance of Jesus as his Savior.

The only way religion can save people is if there were one religion we could all agree on. Or if the world could put aside their differences and acknowledge and respect there is more than one path to God.

No religion can save a person. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Religion in and of itself can save no one.
Actually it could even be said that religion has sent many to hell.
Only Jesus Christ can offer you or anyone else salvation.
It has to do with faith in HIM not religion.

Religion is only good if you are able to except it and follow it to the best of your knowledge. God does want everyone to return to him, then again what Father wouldn't? So he gives us religion so we have a chance to return, and if we don't have a religion, it is on how our lifestyle and good works that could save you from missery.

i'm no longer truly a Baptist yet do trust that once you're kept there is not any going back. you won't be able to be un born. I do notwithstanding trust that in case you stay on your sins with out confessing and attempting righteousness then you honestly stay lower than the consequences which skill you've a lack of fellowship. i imagine a lot persons Christians keep in mind that you won't be able to stay in perfection no longer yet, and that Jesus grow to be the in trouble-free words suitable guy being God and guy jointly. that is why we are able to come again to him because in him we've the capacity to stay with God the son and Father by using the capacity of God the holy spirit. once kept always kept isn't a legalistic plinth to face upon and grip with white knuckles. yet a doctrine of religion and believe and love, understanding that in Christ we receives there, in him we wont fail. In him is our wish to go back and he wont enable us down because he loves us.
