Ok, so I just 'discovered' Leonard Cohen. And I LOVE his song Hallalujah. Is he a Christian singer? Like he refers to the Bible...but in a confusing way.

Also, if Aly and AJ are Christian singers how come their songs are about guys and stuff and they're never singing to God. What's with that?! If your a Christian you want to live for him and be an example and these girls (if they really are Christians) have a chance to make a difference, I mean! If I was famous I'd be talking about God in my singing or whatever! I don't get it! Please explain!

Oh, in Protecting me by Aly and AJ they talk about "You, you're always there for me When I need you most Day and night you're by my side Protecting me" But then they go on to say: "Whenever, where ever baby" --And you do NOT call God 'baby'.

If you could give me more info about them that'd be amazing!!

He was born Jewish, his name: A kohen (or cohen, Hebrew כּהן, "priest", pl. כּהנִים, kohanim or cohanim), is assumed to be a direct male descendant of the Biblical Aaron, brother of Moses. His grandfather or great-grandfather was the first rabbi in Toronto.

Leonard Cohen is currently a Zen Buddhist, but does not see that as incompatible with his Jewish upbringing. He toyed with Scientology in the 70s or 80s.

He has used Christian symbolism in his writings for over 50 years.

You can be a country/pop/rock singer and still be a christian... jesus and God does not forbide marrying or dating... it is what you do on those dates.... and Aly & Aj are normal girls growing up in this world, dating and writing songs about guys that touched their lives... it is nice to find that one special guy that is protecting you along with God... they write songs on their experiences to touch peoples lives through songs.... just because you are not singing christian songs does not mean you do not profess the faith... and how dare you say that if you are famous that you would want to talk about God in your singing or "whatever" how do you know they don't? are you by them each step of the way? Don't judge... the Bible says to judge yourself first.... You have to live your life for Christ by your actions too not just what you say!

to answer your aly and aj Qs:

first of all, christian singers dont have to sing about god. secondly, wat bout never far behind? they say "God, he's never far behind." and they have another song w/ his name in it (cant remember) and thirdly, protecting me is about their parents. in the paper thing in the deluxe edition, right before it has the lyrics, it says, "To our amazing parents..."

hope this helps.

by the way, they actually write/sing about songs that have to do w/ their lives, friends' lives, or world problems, except do u believe in magic & walkin on s-shine.
