Chihuahuas are mainly housepets, very loyal and friendly with the members of the family. It is a good companion dog. Courageous extremely lively, proud and enterprising, it gives and demands equal affection. They like to lick their owners faces. In a sense, they are very owner centric as when guests are present in the home, they follow their owner's every move keeping a close eye on the owner. However, Chihuahuas are not well-suited to small children because of their size and physical frailty. However, many Chihuahuas focus their devotion on one person, and can become overly jealous of that person's human relationships. Also, Chihuahuas seem to have no concept of their own size, and may fearlessly confront larger animals, which can result in injuries. The Chihuahua needs a great deal of human contact like touching, petting, and general attention.
They hate cold and like to stay indoors. However, they are very good for apartment lives and they even prefer wearing sweaters without much noise during the cold season. (at least my Chihuahua Maggie just loves to wear anything we try to put on her!)

yeah definately expose to different people and kids too. my chi was socialized at an early age and he is even good around kids and he is not afraid of anything . Including big dogs which scares me cause if he ever got away from me he would probably take on a german sheppard at this point . but definately socialize it cause if you dont you will have a holy terror on your hands and also invest in quite a few nyla bones cause mine chewed on everything untill i got the nyla bones with the nibs. good luck and I hope I helped.

l always hold my puppy and let it get more secure with me first. never leave it on the sofa alone. and next the most important thing to do. start letting other people hold it and pet it. let it get to know other dogs [safe dog you can trust] because if you do not then you will have a dog that barks at everyone and trying to bite. give it some toys a baby blanket that is all her or his, try not to wash it too often, unless it is mess with it waste. talk to it so it can get to know your voice and don't overly spoil it [ fat chance huh] l spoiled mine. but keep it mind to make it people friendly. even around little children. good luck

Easy, all you have to do is put it down slowly and let it sniff around your house. It will make itself right at home.
