There are a lot of factors that contribute to answering this question...how old is your daughter?
I found my children became mature enough to care for a puppy between the ages of 8 - 10. However once they became teens, their busy social lives put the responsibility of care back on me. That left approximately 5 years that they actually cared for their dogs, and even then it was with constant reminders. So the question becomes...do YOU want a puppy?
Although they make a wonderful companion for children, it is usually the parent who actually cares for the pet. If you are not prepared for the sleepless nights, the chewing, the messes, the whining (sounds a little like an infant...lol) and you would still like your daughter to have a companion pet, you may want to consider adopting an adult dog.
You'll find that children bond as well with a young adult dog as they do with a puppy and YOU have an animal that is mature and hopefully at least partially trained before you bring it into your home.

I assume that your daughter is small. I always wanted a puppy when I was little and I got it. Was the best gift ever and will always remember. I was 10 years old so I could take care of it.
NOw if your daughter is yourger the question is would you be willing to take care of it? clean it, feed it, discipline it, takes a lot of time and commitment. Be sure you want to keep her puppy cause if you take it away from her she will carry this in her heart forever. ( talking with my own experience).
If you love dogs go for it!! make sure that you get the perfect breed acoording to your place, income and mood.

think about it your daughter isn't the one who will be taking care of it you will. even after a month when your daughter doesn't care about it anymore will you still want to keep it?? if you decide to get a dog go for a older one i know that every little kid wants a puppy. but the older dogs at your pound will be put down if people like you wont take it. any one will take a little puppy but not a old dog. they are still great and you don't have to go through potty training, teething, or anything else extra puppies do. so if you decide your ready for the huge responsibility for a living breathing animal go down to your local animal shelter and get yourself a nice dog. good luck!!!!

Only if you ( YOU ) you ""intend""" to take care of it. Never get a pet for a child if you don't know what you are doing. Thousands of dogs are killed every day in the pounds because some thought the wanted a puppy. Dogs can be your best friend-I have 4. They require upkeep.

If she will take care of it and treat it with respect, sure. But if she already has one that has grown up and all she wants is a new "puppy" Then I say no.

Be assured that you will end up taking care of the pup in spite of all the pleading and promises that your daughter makes. If you want the responsibility, get one and have a dog gone great year.

Yes if your prepared to clean up mess, have furniture chewed when its bored and take it for regular excercise.. Plus foot the costs of vet bills etc.
If your not prepared for the above then dont. YOU will have to take full responsibility not your daughter...

It really depends on how old she is. but I think a puppy would be a great thing. She would really appriciate it. A labador would be my suggestion! GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!

puppies are nice, go to the pound or shelter and save one from being gassed to death.
