I would def. go to a salon first if I were you!!!! It is very hard to high light your own hair. I have been a licensed beautician for 18 years. I highlight my own hair when I don't have the money to get it done. It takes me like fives hours to do it. I use foil and do the back first....then wash it out then do the front. Be careful because if you leave it on too long it will damage your hair. I had my sister help me one time and it took her a long time to do it. I noticed a few days after that alot of my hair was breaking off. Basically....think real hard about it before you do it! Good luck!

If you are dead set on doing it yourself DO NOT buy haircolor from your local WALMART! GO to Sally's Buy the real stuff. Ask the cashier who is a licenced cosmeolgist what you need she will help you. I personally use on all clients ion brand haircolor and use quick blue for lighting the hair. Thats the best thing to do... overthe counter hair dye is not good to put in your hair.

Oh. honestly underlayers. Highlights&concepts are so undeniable and uninteresting now, in my opinion. yet underlayers are some thing which will always be drastic, imo, and common to drag off : D. It also looks stunning.
