Why do you have to talk down to athiests? cant you handle the fact that some people aren't weak and pathetic enough to need to have some choirboy buggering halfwit to tell them how to run their lives?

When god walks into a pub and sits down next to me and asks me why i think he doesn't exist i'll start to believe - until then take your god, your old novel called the bible and ram them firmly up your back passage.

Bible bashing arrogant freak.

I really don't care if you believe in god, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny or santa clause. The reason that you get such negative put downs is because you do not let up, you will not accept that there are people who just do not care, and you are in their faces all the time. You see it as your duty to save those poor delusionals who just will not believe that jesus is the savior. You are blinkered, you are part of that whole CS Lewis thing about denial being the devils way of dragging you off of the way and into the bushes where the demons live.

We live in a world that is not a paradise because of one load of delusionals trying to impose their beliefs on another set of delusionals. We have holy wars, famine, plague and you would say that it is not gods fault, god gave man free will and it is all man's fault about the state of the world. I would agree with that but for different reasons, it is mans fault because there is no god only mans belief that their deusion is the right one and the other delusionals are wrong.

You believe blindly without question a doctrine which enslaves yet makes its followers believe that they are free, a doctrine whose main selling point is that if you don't believe, when you die, you will be tortured and burn in hell for all eternity because you did not ask jesus to enter your heart. That seems to me to be a bit harsh for a supposedly all loving all powerful egomaniac

You refuse to acknowledge your own bible full of denials, inconsistencies, the total hypocrisy of a god who supported slavery, rape, torture, the killing of babies and a bloodlust that would put quentin tarantino to shame and you somehow deny that it is the same god who gave his only begotten son -- bit of a change of heart there then! - otherwise that would mean there were two gods and we all know that that is not an option.

I apologise from the bottom of my heart to you if you think any of what I have written is in any way malicious but unfortunately I have found that most christians are a little sensitive when their beliefs are questioned - if I can paraphrase one of the previous answers " can dish it out but can't take it!" and I am not bitter and angry with anything because to be that way implies belief and I do not believe. Everything I have written has been in terms that you might understand I do this because am compassionate. Compassion is not a state that has to be combined with belief to exist.

Finally I have tried to answer this question because I am fed up with being patronised by one christian after another who has the audacity to think that all I do every day is work out different ways of deciding that god does not exist - I do not need to do that, my life is fine I do not feel the need to prostrate myself beneath some mythical or fictional character to feel good. I don't have to contemplate the beauty of the sky or a blade of grass and think this is incredible some supreme being must have made it cos he felt it would be nice for me I look at these things and think is it going to rain or that needs cutting and no I am not in need of spiritual guidance

I am not an Atheist a Christian or even a Muslim but its obvious to me the majority of the bullying intolerance and abuse is done by Christians to any one who doesn`t share their belief
i Don`t know how many answers i have read which say "This is the section for Christians" or how many valid questions have been deleted for no other reason than disagreeing with a Christian belief
I have asked questions on here giving a quotes from bishops and arch bishops to support what i`m saying nd they get thumbs down and then deleted
I even said something about the Holy Shrine at Bethlehem and some one on here said the Father there was an idol worshipper its the Holy place for all Christian denominations and where Christian Clergy go together for a pilgrimage but i lost count of how many Christians on here said it was nothing to do with them and had no authority it`s unbelievable !

So many answers to this one... Before I begin I'd like to say that I disagree with your opinion that these people you refer to are angry with God. I think you'll find they don't believe in a god.

Many of the people you describe will have been brought up to believe in a religion but have later come to seperate themselves from it after careful reflection. They can be angry (probably too strong a word for it) at what they see as brainwashing - i.e. bringing children into a religion before they are old enough to think for themselves.

Others respond in kind to the way some of the religious people act. There are several answers in this section, where the religious respondents have acted so 'holier than thou' that it only encourages the same kind of response.

Others believe so strongly in their own view and see those who follow religion as being misled or wasting their time. Their 'malicious' appearance relates to them trying to convince others of their views. Although this may well seem malicious to those on the receiving end, it's unlikely to always be that way in reality.

Then again, there's the old human nature element and some people (religious or not) are just plain nasty and like to attack people for being different.

And of course, there's the possibility that you are over-sensitive and taking a comment as being a personal attack when it's not. I don't know you and have seen a lot of religious (and atheists for that matter) people seeing insults where there are none (and of course there are lots of insults as well).

And of course, there are hundreds of other reasons.

I have absolutely no belief in god and I love my life! I am surrounded by great family, great friends, and a very well-off home business.
Why is it Christians only think their way of life is the right way and anyone that doesn't agree with them is miserable and wrong? They are SO judgmental. Most of the answers in this question alone prove that.
There wouldn't even be Christianity if people hadn't pushed and forced their beliefs on others. They are doing it right now all over the world.
At least myself and other non believers know how to think for ourselves.

acgsk is right, religious people are the most trouble to the rest of us, and yes, we do retaliate in kind. Can you name me any atheist (yes, we are so called, you'll find the word in every dictionary) who started a war ?

And why do religious people's questions never make sense ? The full stops after "God" and "watching"- does that denote a new sentence ? If so, what does it mean ? It is because you are all badly educated ? Or because you are mentally ill ? Please don't answer, nobody is interested.

Not sure what 'so called athiests' are. Do you just mean athiests?
I put your 'God' down for many reasons. Foremost is the total absurdity of the whole creation myth. The atitude of religious peope comes a close second. So you've got some revealed truth and literally you are holier than the rest?

Because somethings wrong with a god concept that has taken over 100 million lives and encourages the followers to look the other way. If this type of killing was done in any other area of society it would be called genocide.

Because we have suffered centuries of nonsense and abuse! Because even today we have to deal with that. Because even today religious people think that they should be treated equally but noone else. Because even today religious people put their noses into politics. Because if we don't stand up against it the insanity will be allowed to go on unchecked!

I, too wonder why they delight in taking pot-shots at a God they so vehemently deny, and take offense at what they refer to as the imaginary and fictitious place known as hell? Something tells me they believe just a smidgen more than they say they do, or else, WHY GET SO bent out of shape? It's all imaginary, RIGHT?

God will stand at the door and knock for anyone who opens their heart to him and that's something atheists refused to do and that allows Satan to slide right in and take the soul of the non believer and make them have all kind of demonic thoughts about God.
