As a Christian, you should be able to watch or read it without any challenge to your faith. I'd read the book, although the movie's fine. There are some things that will be against your faith/beliefs, but a careful reading shows it really an attack on the Catholic Church. I'd say the theory is the Catholic Church manipulated religion for money and power. It seems, on the surface, to be the search for the Holy Grail. Anything more, I'd ruin it for you. An interesting (fictional) book similiar to the the Da Vinci Code is the Last Templar by Raymond Khoury.

Remember, it is a NOVEL. So, many assumptions and data found there can be false, exaggerated or distorted, but that is OK for a novel, because it is a fictitious work. The problem is when people forget it is just invention, or believes that to be real without searching right. I think a very good christian book which will show you the idea behind the "Da Vinci Code" -- and also the true historical data, is "the Da Vinci Code: A Quest for Answers" you can find it here:

Hope this help!

Trust me, it is better to read the book. Propaganda may say that you shouldn't read the Da Vinci Code if you're religous, but I think that closed minds should come with closed mouths. If you are really interested in reading it, go for it!

It's a Symbolgist named Robert Langdon who is called to France, as a man has been murdered and he is covered in bloody religous symbology, and they need him to interpret it. But the catch is, he did this to himself. The two conflicting religons are the Opus Dei and the feminism theory that Mary Magladane was the wife of Jesus, and they have hidden living descendants. He discovers a burried belief, and finds oddities in Leonardo Da Vinci's work.

Trust me, it's a good read. Just keep in mind, it is very left wing.

I also suggest Angels and Demons, the first Robert Langdon adventure.

It is a story of fiction, but the theory is a real theory that people believe in and that does raise questions about religion, like the lack of women hero's and how the bible is only the point of view of the people who wrote it.

History shows that some time during the crusades, the Knights Templar discovered a treasure under where Soloman's temple was. What that treasure was, is not known. But what is known is as soon as they found what they found, the went to Rome and the Pope gave the Knights unrivaled power.

Before this event, they were simple monks, who were basiclly "Christan special forces" elite fighters who trained and prayed. The rumors on what they found are several, from the spear that pierced Jesus, to the head of John the Baptist. One thing that they may have found, which evidence does support, is the bloodline or heir of Jesus.

It's very likely that Jesus was married, to Mary. More than likely they had several children. So after Jesus was murdered, so were probably most of his children, except for one, who Mary snuck out of town. What the author of the book uses is that the blood line survives to this day, which would change everything that christians believe. Proving that Jesus was human, real and had children.

properly... the theory that Jesus and Mary have been guy and spouse has been around for hundreds of years. Supposedly Mary fled after his dying and confirmed up on the shorelines of France with a small daughter named Sarah. A line of French Kings did declare relation to her so as that they'd declare to be direct decedents of Christ. Now the order of the Rose and the theory Da Vinci exchange into grand grasp of this secret company is bunk. i've got study a similar books Dan Brown used as aspects. I study them years in the past while i exchange into doing paintings for my degree. That order pronounced interior the Da Vinci Code (God I choose i'd desire to remember the call) exchange into created interior the mid twentieth century. a synthetic up the information itemizing the 'grand masters', left them interior the French library then waited a decade or so earlier 'gaining wisdom of' them. i does not be bowled over to benefit Da Vinci belonged to lots of secret societies yet heI exchange right into a never a member of this one simply by fact it exchange into merely invented. The church denies Mary and Jesus have been a pair. actually the ineffective sea scrolls and Gospel of Thomas, and Gospel of Mary Magdalene are in such poor situation we can't in any respect be responsive to for particular. i think of interior the top why does it remember? Jesus exchange right into a human guy. If he had a spouse does it exchange his message or purpose any? No. in certainty the full chastity interior the Catholic Church exchange into invented by St. Augustine interior the 380's, not the Bible! the clarification the church interior the middle a while enforced chaste priests and priests is simply by fact their holy adult men have been residing it up with whores, different halves, huge estates, wine and playing. It exchange right into a circulate to freshen up the Church and had little to do with doctrine. So think of roughly and are available to a decision what you will. interior the top that's not a sparkling question it exchange into purely dragged interior the spot gentle by a reliable paintings of fiction and a Tom Hank's flick.

It's not even a theory. It is a fictious story written by an author. It's a mystery thriller, but as people read it they forgot that it was fiction and many people started to question thier beliefs based on the questions and answers in the book.

Mary (not Jesus's mother) became pregnant. The father is none other than the Son. Catch my drift so far? The Holy Grail is supposedly the bloodline of Jesus, extending into modern day. It's called the Grail because the chalice is a feminine object, a symbol of the woumb.

Its about a secret christian society trying to hide the secret of jesus and mary being married and having children. Of course, there are many more details, but that is the main idea.

That Jesus who is supposed to be the WORLDS saviour, decides he likes Mary Magdalene better than the rest of us. Has sexual relations with her, she has baby, blood line survives until this day, yada, yada, yada.

I'm not even a Christian and that makes me jealous... i thought God loves us all equally? Oh well... personally i think it's a bunch of crap, even if it IS a fictional story.
