JEEEZ - there are eight answers above - some from "dental professionals" - and only one is even close to correct. Congratulations, njm. WHY do people who haven't a clue bother to answer these questions?

DO NOT GET A BITE APPLIANCE MADE FOR A TWO YEAR OLD CHILD!!!

I can not state emphatically enough that you should never, ever consider getting (or making) an appliance to stop tooth grinding in a young child. This would stop proper growth and development of the jaw where the appliance is worn.

It is my opinion that baby teeth are designed to be worn away as the jaws grow and develop. This allows for different growth rates and it allows for the accommodation of the permanent teeth with their much more pronounced cusp forms when they start to come in.

You may wish to ask your dentist to check for underlying problems, but 99% of the time - if not more - this is just part of being a two year old.

She needs a mouth guard. Right now, because she only has baby teeth, its not that big of a deal, but with the adult teeth it can force the teeth to shift and also cause them to wear down very easily which opens up a whole new host of problems. Also, for all those who reccommended Wal-Mart moth guards, these can cause even more serious problems. Believe me, I've seen tons of cases. And, grinding is a natural reflex at that age and has nothing to do with stress. She does not need to see a neurologist either.

When my children would grind their teeth when sleeping, I gave them extra calcium the following day in the form of milk, yogurt, and sometimes chewable tums.

I work in childrens dentistry, and atleast 50% of parents complain of this problem. The only harm your child is doing is driving you crazy with the noise. She will not damage her teeth, it's just a habit and she should grow out of it soon. My daughter did it also when she was two and it only lasted a few months, it made me cringe too :)

Take her to a doctor, or your dentist (although the chances are he'll refer you to your doctor) and see about getting a rubber plate that goes in the mouth and prevents you from grinding your teeth.

I'd get this treated early, or she'll likely develop jaw problems that may cause her to need physiotherapy as she gets older.

you need to take her to see her dentist not a doctor and grinding your teeth has nothing to do with stress but it can be herditary and get her fitted for a mudguard becaused there is nothing that you can do to stop someone to stop grinding their teeth

walmart has a mouth guard she can use at night but check with your doctor first to see if he has a smaller sized mouth piece and then you will know for sure. Asking for advice on yahoo answers for your baby is not such a good idea.
