dig as far down as you can. 3 foot will be fine. Place a paving slab on top of the grave to protect her from foxes. This also gives you a solid base to get yourself a nice stone urn from the garden centre and plant it full of bulbs and flowers. When they bloom, think of your cat.
The primroses on my beloved border collie's grave are blooming now. Golden yellow like his lovely eyes and the daffodils are strating to push up through the earth. It's like he is sending me a message.

My sympathies for your lose. It's absolutely horrible to lose a pet, especially one you have had for 17 years. I found an effective way to prevent foxes doing what foxes do is 1. dig the hole as deep as you can, 2. once you have buried BBpuss put a heavy paving slab over the area. You needed leave it there forever if you don't want to but I'd recommend at least 6 months. You can always put a plant pot with something attractive in it on top. This will put even the most determined fox off.

When I lost my beloved Scraggy my sister reminded me I was only feeling so sad because she had brought me so much joy and as the sadness wore of the joy would remain. I found that thought very comforting. I hope you do to.

What is a BB Puss, excuse my ignorance? Phone now and ask your emergency vet to recommend some sort of container, or the best place to put your cat to rest. It is obvious you are very very upset, but the vet may be able to give you further advice. It does not seem the vet was very helpful first time round. Or perhaps because you were understandably upset, at the time you may not have heard all the vet had to say. I think you have looked after your cat very well for her to have lived for 17 years, but it is time to say goodbye,Do not wait any longer. please phone your vet. You might let your vet take her, just to ensure the foxes do not dig her up.

Sorry for your loss. I have an actual solution as I worked for a vet and just recently buried a cat myself.

Wrap the cat in an old towel or pillow case. Place the cat in a kitchen trash bag and bury her somewhere where you won't possible dig her up by accident later. You can always turn her grave into a little flower garden with a small statue or something.

The material and bag block the scent and keep animals from finding her.

Once again, I am sorry.

I hope that I did not offend you, I was only trying to help and it was not my intention to offend. You can also place her in a box but the bag keeps the scent down so they don't smell her.

Im sorry to hear of your loss and your better off not posting things like that on here because of the insensitivety of many people.I had my cat cremated she was a big girl and like you i was frightend the foxes would dig her up so maybe you should get her gremated and have her ashes back to put under her favorite tree.if not go with your instincts and dig a deep as poss so you know shes well down.Time is a great healer

Buy here deep and they will not get her. We have a lot of foxes in our area and over the last 20 years a lot of our pets have died (of old age mostly rabbits that live about 3 or 4 years). The foxes simply can't dig 3 feet down.
I am sorry about your cat passing away, our cat lived to 19 and when she moved on we missed her loads for weeks and weeks.

im kinda in the same predicament as you because my sweet Ginger is slowly going she was blind in one eye and now with in the past couple of days i have noticed that she is blind in the other she keeps on running into things i feel so badly for her she wouldnt eat for days and today i just happened to give her some chicken breast to try and she ate it thank god...but i know that the end is inevitably near so i was thinking what i would do when the day actually came and i was thinking of using a tupperware box with a blanket and burying her rather deeply i dont know if this would work for you as my Ginger only weighs 6lbs hopefully it will spark an idea for you and Im sorry about your baby...

I am so sorry for your loss, I know this is difficult for you. Our pets become part of our lives and sometimes even a part of the family and your BBpuss was part of your life for a long time.

While you didn't ask about cremation, I wanted to offer it as a suggestion. I know someone who had their dog cremated and they bought a beautiful box that displayed their favorite photo of him. It is a very nice way of remembering their family dog after he has gone and they didn't have to the concerns of how to bury him.

Im so sorry about your loss, I know what you are going through, I lost a cat last year, she was 16. My hubby made a box for your maxxie and she lay on her favourite jumper, and all he did was dig a large deep hole in the bottom of the garden. I planted some flowers on the grave so I could remember her by.

Cremation is the best answer, the vet will be able to arrange this for you. You will get your beloved cat back in a lovely box and receive a certificate as well.
