Make sure it is not too much water in the bath tube, just up to half his legs, warm water,(put your elbows first you will feel how warm it is if is too hot you will feel pinching). I think a medicated shampoo is good ,it'll kill any bugs in case he cought.Make his body wet and put shampoo on neck, trunck and a back massage gently.Wash the head last.Make sure the water did not go to a doggie's ears and his nose. ( nose and ears are very sensitive. It is easy to get an ear infection in case he has some water in his ears). Be prepared for a shower for yourself. After you get him out of the bathtube he will shake off the water, sprinckle all around the bathroom's walls and ceiling and youself of course. Dry him with a towel and cover him with a dry bath towel or small blanket. He will go take a nap.Don't take him outside right away unless the weather is hot,Winter time keep him at home until he is dry.Boxers are ver y cute and faithfull dogs but because of short hair they easy get respiratory infections. So if the weather is bad think about a kind of sweater for you doggie. First bath is stressful for a dog and the owner, next goes easy. But you shold give him a bath not too often, every month or every 2m.

If the dog has never had a bath, placing the dog in a tub or in a confined area and slowly pouring the water over the dog can help aleeviate fear. As for shampoo types i use brand names that are for tick and fleas. some animals can become allergic to certain brands so if it is one you have never used i would recommend trying it out on a small area of the dog observe for a day and if there appears to be no reaction use it.

Put him in the tub. But never use regular shampoo-only use shampoo for dogs. our shampoo will cause the dogs skin to dry and for them to itch.

Oatmeal dog shampoo, you can find it at your local pet store. Besides that warm (NOT HOT) water in a very calming setting.

if it is warm enough you can go out side and use a hose, but if it is cold since its winter you could put him in the bath tub already filled with warm water(the running water could scare him.) and pour the water over top of him with a cup. types of shampoo are listed in the link below:
http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441775241&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026123&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1168738725537&itemNo=11&In=Dog&N=2026123&Ne=2
you might also want to blow dry your dog too if it is going out in the freezing could and is still wet. good luck!!!!!!
BTW if he is too scared put on your trunks and get in with him it will comfort him more.(im serious it really works)
