Hi there...your cat may be considered a Domestic Short/Medium Long Hair (DSH/DMH/DLH) black/white or better known as a tuxedo cat.

Many types of breeds can have black and white cats. If you could possiby put up a picture with the cat or more detail.

Tuxedos, though, are cats that are mostly black with a white chest and underbelly, possibly white paws. Somewhat like calicos and tortoiseshells. Al three have to be a specific color to fit in that category.

there are thousands of kinds of cats with those colors almost every breed can be black and white, the black and white term is refered to tuxedo, that is the color variation, but the breed a pic is needed for the most part, your cat is a mixed breed or it would be purebred and you would know this answer becuase you would have bought the kitty from a breeder and got all the info you'll need(well most of the info) from them.

You say your is white and black, could be just an ordinary Domestic cat. You didn't say if your cat is long or short haired, more info is needed.

Most cats are not a specific breed, unless you purchased it from a breeder. It is probably a DSH, DMH, or DLH, (Domestic Shorthair, Domestic Mediumhair, or Domestic Longhair) depending on it's fur length. This is basically what you call a cat that is a "mutt", that has no specific breed.

Go to the library. They have a lot of books about cats and breeds. The color in the book may differ, but if you read the description, it might give you specific characteristics or behavior prone to that breed.
I hope you and your cat have a good life.
Good luck!
