i would use a white onion, just cut it up really fine, i guess it depends on what you are making, but i've substituted the two because i never seem to have greenonions when i need them, if it is for a dip or something wouldn't use too much white onion as the taste is stronger

If you're putting the onion in the recipe, the white onion would be fine. If you just need it for garnish, I would use parsley or cilantro as a substitute.

Actually green onions are a good substitute for onions so it will work vice versa too- onions will be fine.

You could probably use any onion of choice. Depending on the recipe (in a pinch), you might be able to sub with onion flakes, powder or salt.

If you don't like a strong onion taste...try just parsley flakes...or a sweet vadallia onion won't be as harsh as a yellow onion

It kinda depends on what you're making. Dice up the white onion real tiny and use less than the recipe calls for.

i would use an onion, or any kind of onion family since they'll have similar tastes, but that also depends on what you're making.
