When, from what I can see, everyone else smiles, or talks, or makes any slight movement with their mouth, the upper lip rises above the front teeth, in a full smile the lip rises above the teeth and exposes the gum. When talking normally, my top row of teeth never show, the lip never rises high enough to show even a little bit. When I laugh or smile, most people would expose their gum, I'll show a few mm of my teeth, and about a quater of an inch of the teeth is still covered with the upper lip.

It's been like this for as long as I can remember, and it pisses me off. It's a flaw that seems unique to me, it wouldn't be so bad if it was something like a wonky nose, or a huge chin. That's something a lot of people have. Yet I've not come across anyone who can't fully expose their top teeth yet. And it's not a problem my parents or my sister have ethier, just me.

Any idea what it is, is it a condition?

I have the same thing. I also have other mallocussions that I am going through orthodontics and eventually orthognathic (jaw surgery) surgery for. Techincally, I believe you are supposed to show 2-4 mill of teeth with a relaxed smile. I don't show any when talking either. My surgeon is adding a bone graft to my upper jaw so I show the correct amount which will also lengthen my face a bit. If you don't have any other problems with your bite I wouldn't worry about it. good luck!

I'm sure it's genetic. If it bothers you a lot, you could see a plastic surgeon. I'm sure they could lift your lips so that the smile will be larger. Don't be so hard on yourself, personality can still come across with a little smile, learn to laugh a lot. Maybe before you know it your smile won't bother you so much. By the way my husband shows only a small amount of his teeth when he smiles. I still love his smile! Take care and God Bless.

Everbody is different. I don't generally show my gums either, or at least I try not to. I feel I don't look right if I smile big!
I have known people who smile small and those who smile big. It's just an individual thing probably having to do with each person's own physical makeup.
If you are really worrying about it, you could ask your doctor. But I am sure your smile is just fine.

I don't think you have a condition. I think it's just the way you were born. It doesn't sound like a bad thing. I'd rather have that than my hair. Everyone has things they think no one else has that are wrong with them. We blow them all up out of proportion and think everyone notices when usually no one notices or thinks it's anything bad at all. When I met my husband he had certain things he hated about himself and honest truth, those were the very things I loved about his appearance. Mainly, it's funny but he is very hairy and he thought all women would be grossed out by it but he didn't know that I love hairy guys. I'm sure many people look at your mouth and are thinking that it's cute while you think it's not. That's the way it works.

All I do is act like i'm interior the approach giggling and particularly open my lips slightly extra. The extra organic your smile is, the added ideal it is going to seem. in my view, the smile human beings anticipate out of you is the smile you incur at the same time as giggling, aka once you're satisfied. :D
