It is okay if you knew the dosage. That's the problem there. My akita had this. Basically, it's arthritis. Other than the pain the dog may be in, it's not an emergency situation, nor is it curable. Start giving him those chondrotin tablets. It won't make it go away, but it helps rebuild a little. They're tasty. My dog thought she was getting a yummy treat. Also, see if you can train him to lay down on a raised bed, or give him a couch that is "his bed." Avoid his need to get up and down like that. That's a long way for a Great Dane. As far as the pain, you need to see a doctor to get medication that is made for dogs and that is in the proper dosage. Hope your baby starts feeling better!

Yes it is OK. Use to give it to my Rot/Chow mix but I am here to tell you that aspirin on a regular basis can hurt the lining of their stomachs as well as the stomachs of humans.
Aspirin can also damage to the joints that are causing the pain if given on a regular basis.
I had to eventually decide if my 13 1/2 yr old Charlie needed to continue to go through this arthritic pain or if I should let him go and let him go is what I did.
I didn't want to come home and find that he left while I was not home to be there for him and 13 1/2yrs old is about 5 yrs longer than the vet says a Rot/Chow will live.
You might need to consider this as well because your dog's problem isn't going to get better,it will only get worse as he ages.

Human aspirin is not always the answer. And the pain may be more than joint related. The best option would be to take the dog to the vet and have a good physical done to determine what the problem is and then they can provide a good medicinal solution

I had a great dane with bad arthritis. The vet told me to give him an ibuprofen in a hot dog or chunk of cheese as a snack. GULP one bite and it was gone. It worked great. One in the morning and one at nightime. (ibuprofen is a generic for Advil and Motrin) Also make sure he goes walking regularly. Maybe not a lot but regularly.

An aspirin is ok but your vet will have something better for arthritis which is what it sounds like he may have. He also needs a very soft place to lay down on.

Ask the vet. Apparent the animal is in pain and need medication, or something. At least the vet will be able to tell you what the problem is.

Poor dog. Take him to the vets and your vet can decide what treatment is best.. Sounds like he needs something soon..
Good luck, hope you get it sorted

I suggest that you ask your vetnerian and ask him and get the dog examined so you'll know what to give your dog.
