Sadly, they very often do. Christianity has the potential for being a beacon of love and tolerance for all. Some people, however, look at verses of hate instead of love. These people attack anyone with different views than theirs.
However, some of the Christians I've met are actually really good people. They're generous, cheerful, hard-working, honest, salt-of-the Earth kind of people.

Yes. Those who walk up to strangers on the street asking them if they have found Jesus give the rest of us a bad name.
Those who present Christianity to the world as requiring persons believe in mythological doctrines in order to believe in Jesus give the rest of us a bad name.
Those who bury Jesus under the cloak of religion give the rest of us a bad name.

I sometimes think they do. Not on purpose- its the age we live in. Most are so lukewarm- not wanting to offend others that we compromise things- which leave us open for hyprocacy and gives adavantage to those who question the truth. It's not easy living right in these times and I think many give in without even realizing what they are giving up (the credibility to share Christ with others).

Some do, yes. I'm mortified by some of the things my fellow Christians say to others.
