Does she make the noise when you are near her kittens? If so she may be warning you away. Mother cats are very protective of their litter and even though you may be best of friends under normal circumstances she may be warning you to keep your distance from her babies. If she looks in discomfort or you are at all worried then do ask a vet to take a closer look.

It depends on what sort of noise she is making. If unsure, ring your vet and describe it to them. They will be able to tell you if this is normal or whether you should take her in. If there is a problem, It may be something minor but something that needs vet care. Enjoy your new little friends and hope your cat is ok

she probably is a little moody just having her babies and dealing with that pain so shes probably having a moment and needs a little time give her attention if she lets you let her do her own thing for a few days and she should be back to normal soon

She might be in pain. A vet visit is in order for her in case she did not get all her babies out.

its a sound cats (and many animals) make to softly call and comfort their young - if its a soft growling chirping sound, that is.
