We just bought a brand new truck (over 40k) less than 2 weeks ago. 6 days after we bought it, it broke down, and had to be towed back to the dealership. Now, 2 days after we picked it back up - my husband is on the side of the road again. My question is, do we have an legal options to get out of this truck and demand a different one since we have already signed the papers?

It is a Ford - F350 dually that we purchased. We are speaking to the sales man, and he's getting us a rental and told my husband they will get us a different truck if we want.

There are lemon laws. I think you may need a different dealership. I hope it wasn't a Ford, but even if it was, look in your owner's manual and you should find a customer service number. Call this number and talk to them. I assure you they will not be happy either and they will want to know why your truck is breaking down and they will contact the dealership to find out what's going on. These guys carry more weight than you or I and can make things difficult for the dealer if he's not doing the job. Good luck to you and your husband. PS--- Thanks for buying American. There is NO 72-hour return law, it only applies to purchases made in your own home (such as a vacuum), at temporary locations or health memberships.
The only right you have is to have it fixed under your warranty. Lemon Law only applies if it's the same problem and the dealer fails to fix it after 3 or more attempts. Then you can exchange it for another car or get your money back.

like was already said check with local lemon laws. If you just bought it 6 days ago those repairs should be covered by the dealership. Make sure you get written repair orders for the vehicle as well as a receipt saying it was fixed. Most lemon laws require these in order to hold the dealership to the lemon law guidelines.

In Illinois, the lemon law only applies after the dealer has made a reasonable attempt to correct the problem within 12,000 miles or one year from customer delivery of the vehicle. You'll need to check the statute in your own state. There's a link below:

In most states you have thirty six hours to change your mind.
Lemon laws vay from state to state but most are based on the vehicle being in the shop for the same problem three times over a stated period.
Without knowing your state and what you bought I can't tell you much more. I suggest you go to your state DMV website and also the state's site and navigate it to the office of attorney general.

check the lemon law in your state. If they don't correct the problem after so many tries, you do have legal rights. But just because a vehicle is brand new doesnt' mean it won't have problems. the technicians working on them have not caught up with the technology! good luck

use that warranty to make them replace the parts and see if there are any recalls. Or buy a car next time and not a big gas sucker. Also, I hope you consider more reliable vehicle makers next time, as I am sure this will happen again and again with your current brand.
