If you're looking to get a dog I STRONGLY suggest that you don't base your decision on looks.
There is a HUGE difference in the temperaments of the two dogs your mentioned.
A Border Collie is HIGH MAINTENANCE!
Try researching breed temperaments instead of looks.

It depends on whether you want a little lap dog who would probably live indoors for the majority of the time. I gather you mean "border" collie. Great dogs also. Require a more energetic owner as a bigger dog and needs more exercise. Would most probably live outdoors most of the time. Either way, look at both dog breeds, work out which would suit your lifestyle the most and let the dog pick you. You will know which one is for you when you see it.

Depends on where you live and how much time you have to be with the dog....Border Collies are hands down the smartest but need room to run, shi tzue, better apartment dog...but, not that you asked, why not take a trip to your local shelter?...The best dogs I have ever had are from there, they were wonderful, and adopting an adult dog is easier, they love you a lot....just an idea, you just might walk in there and fall in love!!!!!

Well, this going to be one of those opinionated questions that get both answers with a few side orders. Ha!
I had a Border Collie so will go with it. What I like; they are smart. But, they look like they Dressed up to go to a formal dinner, just add a Bow tie. ;-p

Please don't tell my Border Collie you think he's cute. He would be offended. Border Collies are handsome and rugged, with an air of suave about them.
Shih-tzus are cute..........fuzzy liddle fop mops :)
PS, just because someone is asking which dog is cuter doesn't mean he/she is deciding which one to buy based on the answers.

Me personaly neither...I prefure large dogs....I have a St.Bernard!
But you ask which is cutier...Shi tzu..the border collie's have to a huge nose!
