I am on a special diet where i cannot have fried foods, and must only have fruits and vegetables. Fritos only have corn, corn oil, and salt in them, so i would be fine, but i don't know if they are fried or not? are they?

They are fried By the way if you ever need a candle and don't have one, you can light a Frito on fire and it will burn just like a candle. Kinda cool huh.

They aren't baked. They are most definitely deep-fried. Anyone who's been through a corn-chip assembly line can tell you this.

Stay the Hell away from chips in general, if you're on a special diet. The fact that you're trying to justify Fritos, something that's just plain not healthy any way you cut it, means you're probably subconsciously trying to talk yourself into eating things that you know ... deep down ... you shouldn't be.

Your best bet is to stick with things you absolutely KNOW to be alright. Go for celery, carrot sticks, bagels and granola. If you have to tear something out of a greasy, foil package and shake the excess salt off, no amount of ingredient nit-picking will make the unhealthiness, the excess fat and calories, go away.

In other words: Fritos are fried, but even if they weren't, they're not for someone on a strict diet.
