How long or often do you go on the computer? How much attention do you give her? how often do you see her? If you don't see her much and are on the computer all the time and don't give her attention, that's why she sits on your lap. If the opposite is true then get her a chair, or offer to sit on her lap while you dictate something to her to type in. She might get the hint and stop, if telling her directly doesn't work.
Good luck

Tell her in a nice way that you can not type with only one hand and that you need both hands. Let her know that she can sit on your lap some other time.

Use this time to get to know her better. When she sits on your lap talk about the first thing that pops up. Think happy thoughts and you won't be typing with one hand anymore. If you know what I mean.

Is this a "Real Problem".
My suggestion is to live it up and remember 10 years from now you wish she were still doing it.
I wish your girlfriend would sit on my lap and have me type one-handed. Just kidding. I really see no problem there for you, unless she weighs over 400 ponds.

Hey that sounds pretty good to me! However--
She wants more attention from you, and resents your 'pointless' time isolated from her but physically right there. Get her using the pc occasionally, and she won't resent it as much. And sometimes, just switch your attention totally to her in the middle of a pc session. She'll love that, and possibly cut you some slack now and then.
And when she's there, set a time limit on the pc session and STICK TO IT! That way, if you really need to work, you can always tell her that your pc time with her there is used up, but it's really important to finish the work, and she needs to go home. What do YOU think she's going to do?? She'll let you work while she watches quietly. Works every time. Best of luck.

Is she getting enough attention from you befor you decide to get on the computer? Has something happened in the past for her to want to know what you are doing on the computer? Or you could just say honey I could get this done alot faster if I could use both hands to type and then flirt with her say something like then my hands will be free to do what ever you want them to do.

Take it from a girl.... you SOO dont want to anger her. So, I suggest that you let her SIT there but maybe sideways, so her side is to you and so is her arm. You can still type with both hands and sometimes to show you KNOW she's there and acknowledge that shes there and you maybe love her, kiss her on her arm is shes wearing short sleeves and talk to her.

She probably just wants to be with you. As long as the computer is not more important then the relationship. I suggest just asking her to sit sit somewhere else. She will probably get mad, so you need to figure a nice way to put it.

it sounds like she is trying to keep you off the computer if Im not mistaken. so it seems like you've did something in the past to make her feel uncomfortable when you get on the computer OR she just doesn't want you to go cuz she doesn't have a life of her own. either or.

Get another chair for her to sit with you at the computer. Drop hints like that and she'll get the picture. If she doesn't take the hints that you'll have to tell her straight up. Good luck with that!
