The world's longest running TV show is "Meet the Press". It began on NBC on November 6th, 1947, it is in it's 60th year of non-stop weekly broadcasts in the US!
The first regular television broadcast began in Germany in 1935 Regular network broadcasting began in the United States in 1946, but I couldn't find a show listed for that date.

The oldest as in the longest running, or the oldest as in the first broadcast?
I am going to assume you mean longest running.
Now, do you mean prime time series, daytime series, or news programs?
Prime time: you named it, Gunsmoke from 1955 to 1975, that is 633 episodes
Soap: They named it, The Guideing Light, which has been on since 1952 (television) and 1937 Radio. It had it's 15,000 episode on Sept. 7, 2006
News Show: Face the nation which stated in 1957. Sorry, but I can't find a count of episodes.
Hope that helps. . .
