Unfortunately, telling the age of a bird by the way it looks is very difficult, if not impossible. Birds tend to grow to their full adult size by approximately 6 months. You can sometimes tell if a bird is "old" based on the feather color and his/her eyes - but seeing as cockatoos live very long lives - knowing that it is "young" or "old" based on eyes and feathers doesn't really tell you much of anything. Unless you have an ID band with the birth year or a birth/egg certificate you really only have 1 other option. The other option is to have him tested - I know you can take a blood and/or feather sample and send it to a wide number of science labs that do bird DNA testing (for sexing, etc)... I believe they have a test to give approximate ages. Good luck!

A good way is to consult a vet or you can go to a professional bird store and ask someone reputable if they can determine the birds age.

Not if it dosnt have a band with he year on it. Unless its a baby you can somtimes tell on the sound sit makes if its still very young.
