Do you think we should keep filling the kettle to the top even when we are only making one brew? after all, use more energy and we will get better weather won't we? I need to get a bit of colour in my face and a bit of global warming may just do the trick, what do you think?

Me too! This man made CO2 warming up the planet is a complete load of nonsense.Man made CO2 comprises only one percent of atmospheric greenhouse gases and that after 250 years of industrialisation.I like the warming of the seasons and can remember the winter of 62/63 when the temperature remained below freezing even at mid-day for 3 months. My enduring memory of childhood is the cold, thank goodness it's gone.Infallablejeff.

When global warming hits, the ice on Greenland melts. That changes the salinity of the North Atlantic. That interferes with ocean currents that warm England.

The results:

You get very cold. England's agriculture is ruined. You pay a lot more for food.

Appealing prospect? That's why your government signed the Kyoto treaty, trying to prevent or at least reduce global warming.

Global warming doesn't mean we all get nice and toasty. It means massive disruptions to climate which will really hurt agriculture. Drought, floods, even freezing.

Yeah Game on. Maybe it won't matter if the unpredictable effects of global warming include, massive droughts, famines, loss of plants and animals, increase in malaria in the UK, and an increase in sea level by 100s of metres, because hey, it'll be a few degrees warmer (on average globally). Genius.

Why don't we test the limits of this experiment by increasing our emissions as much as possible? With a bit of luck we can get a runaway greenhouse effect just like on Venus - wouldn't it be great to do something so world changing by just drinking cups of tea?!

I'm afraid Bob is right. The temperature warms up and the Gulf Stream that keeps this country warm will shut down, plunging us into freezing temperatures. The UK is at the same latitude as Canada, so we will get severely cold winters with lots of snow.
So, keep down the CFC emissions, that's what I say.
