Hi Tristan h,
Good question. As you can see, many verses in both the Greek and Hebrew scriptures say that homosexual BEHAVIOR is a sin. You asked about the Bible and stated that you wanted to read the verses so you either believe in the scriptures or want to study them.
**********See the last paragraph for something important******
One caveat that someone already mentioned is that being gay and participating in homosexuality are two separate things. If you commit the sin in your mind and relish it, then you might as well have performed the act in real life. I believe, however, that if you are struggling against homosexual thoughts and fasting and praying for help and avoiding any opportunity for temptation, then you are probably not sinning.
Some people have given bad advice- e.g. that someone can't help what they feel and so it cannot be a sin when they act on that desire. That makes no sense because the child molesters also have an urge to have relations with children. Is that okay:? Are the people who like to be with animals okay just because they have an urge that they can't resist? What about the people who have necrophilia???? Don't listen to bad advice. You have gotten alot.
Homosexuality is a mental illness along the same line as the above. The DSM (psychiatry "bible") listed it as such until political pressure from homosexuality supporters caused it to be removed. Most psychologists still regard it as a mental illness, however; they just cannot say that openly.
Regardless of all of that, though. Going "to hell" has nothing to do with being gay or any other sin that you may commit. You avoid ETERNAL SEPARATION from God by believing in his death on the cross as payment for your sins (any and all sins). All the other major religions profess that there is a list of things that you have to do or not do to get into the Creator's good graces. Christianity is unique. It is based on what you BELIEVE.
AFTER you believe, you are expected to live your life according to the principles described in the scriptures. What you do as a non-believer is irrelevant. Even if you were to live a pure, kind, good life and not believe in Jesus, you would still not go to Heaven. That is also in the Bible.
We can never be good enough to get into Heaven. God already paid the price for all your sins when Jesus died on the cross. If you accept that and dedicate your life to living for God, DEMONSTRATE that relationship with God by changing your life to conform to the examples in the scriptures.
Blessings. GOD LOVES YOU!!!

Really I think it's bull that if your gay you'l go to hell because if you believe in Jesus and God and such and ask for forgivness you will be forgiven, that's what I've been taught, and I've heard that if your white and you date a black person it's sinning, and I've done that, It's dumb, I think some people just mentally think gayness equals hell cause people hate gay people, we had a girl at our school take another girl to homecoming and a pastor wrote in the paper we're all going to hell so what ever, like I said, I think it's just some people's belief
I hate how people use the bible to make people hate other people.......
Sorry I can't give a better answer

The Bible says homosexuality is a sin and you can't go to Heaven if you've committed a sin; unless you confess to God that you are a sinner and believe with all your heart and soul that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins.
Of course being a Christian means that you want to be like Christ and Christ didn't commit any sins, so you'll have to get your life in order.
God Bless!

There is no verse that says that. In Jewish law there are penalties for the practice of homosexuality and in the New Testament it is condemned, but there is no verse saying that being gay makes you go to hell. I think fundamentalist Christians say that because they feel that it implies that you will go to hell.
However, they should bear in mind the verse:
"Judge not, lest ye be judged".
Any judging on such matters is meant to belong to God, not to anyone who is capable of bashing a Bible.
BTW, the verse quoted in the answer before me does not say that gays will automatically go to hell. It says that anyone who practices sexual immorality will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Being gay does not = practicing homosexuality. There are many gay clerics who are celibate.

If you want to spread Christian hate and intolerance by quoting Leviticus, then by the same token you should go kill every waitress and Wal-Mart employee that works on Sunday per Exodus!
Exodus 35:2- "Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death."
Choosing which bible passages to follow for your own personal agenda is not being a very good Christian, wouldn't you say? In short, YOU CHOOSE which of God's written works you follow, and you CHOOSE to hate homosexuals.

No where in the bible does it say if you are gay you will go to hell. However, what it does say is:
Romans 1:26-32: "That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.
28 And just as they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting, 29 filled as they were with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malicious disposition, being whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, self-assuming, inventors of injurious things, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, merciless. 32 Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them"
Ephesians 5:3-5; ".Let fornication and uncleanness of every sort or greediness not even be mentioned among YOU, just as it befits holy people; 4 neither shameful conduct nor foolish talking nor obscene jesting, things which are not becoming, but rather the giving of thanks. 5 For YOU know this, recognizing it for yourselves, that no fornicator or unclean person or greedy person—which means being an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and of God."
Now, this next Scripture is good, look carefully at the first part of verse 11. The very first sentence. This letter was written to the first Christians and they were some of the anointed ones.
1Corinthians 6: 9-11: " What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And yet that is what some of YOU were. But YOU have been washed clean, but YOU have been sanctified, but YOU have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God."
So even though some of them were all those bad things, when they learned the truth, they turned around and changed their ways. They turned from doing bad to doing things that were pleasing to God.
Acts 3:19: "“Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get YOUR sins blotted out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the person of Jehovah"
we can ask God for forgiveness for the things that we have done wrong, but if we don't stop doing them, then we are really showing that we aren't serious. Repent means to turn around and quit.

I think that gays are the least people to go to hell, because (nowadays) they mostly not harming anyone and bring joy to themselves and others. They don't go out and start a war, like straight man does.
Reply to the above:
If I read between the lines, then almost everyone should go to hell in this life.

Tristan,
People go to hell because they reject Christ as their Lord and Savior.
The bible is clear about that.
Romans chapter 1 is a good place to read clearly what God thinks of homosexuality.

Well, that quote attributed to Paul in 1 Corinthians does say you won't inherit the Kingdom of God, but it doesn't explicitly state you'll go to Hell. In fact, nowhere does it explicitly state you'll got to Hell for being gay.
However, Paul also said:
I would that all men were even as myself [celibate] — but every one has his proper gift from God; one after this manner, and another after that. But I say to the unmarried and the widows. It is good for them if they so continue, even as I.

Supplementing Melanie T's verses
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Galations 5:19-21
"The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
