I may be relocating to winston salem. I need some advice on where to start looking for apartments in the range of $400-$700. I have lived in Philadelphia and New York my entire life. I am looking for a area where I can walk from my apartment for a bite to eat, or in a area where I can catch a show. I am 26 and single so a place with a little night life if any. Please help me figure this out! Thanks

There are some nice apartments on Bethabara Park Rd in Winston-Salem, look them up in Yahoo Yellow Pages. You'll need a car, you can't really walk anywhere effectively in W-S. Those apartments are close to pretty much everything. My wife and I have lived in the area for 4 years and we love it here!

You will find that Winston Salem is not a city as you know it.

Probably you can forget about walking much of anywhere. Winston Salem is a small city, and wasn't built for the pedestrian in mind. I don't live there, but have family there, so I have been in the area a bit.

Nightlife? Shows? Again, it will be different than in NY. Culture does exist, but you won't find Broadway style shows playing at a dozen venues every night.

The good news: You shouldn't have any problem finding a decent, affordable apartment.
