I have this 8 month old germin shephard she always has diarreah and looks horriably under weight, But she eats a full butter dish of dog food and at least half of a nother everyday. Her vet says she is ok and the diarreah is normal, But you can see all of her ribs and her tail bone, My other dog eats less and is healthy looking.
Is there anything that will help stop the diarreah and put weight on my puppy...

Diarreah is not normal and she should have blood tests done to see what is wrong. If it continues, she will get dehydrated and the problem could be fatal in time.

I would first start by having your dogs stool checked for parasites at your vets office, the cost is minimal and that will eliminate the question of a parasite problem for diarrhea and being underweight.

You don't mention what food you are feeding this pup and how often. I would recommend that you check your current bag of food and see what it's list of ingredients are, the first five listed are the staple of the diet so you will want a meat such as chicken as your first ingredient. I would recommend feeding your pup twice daily, he should have a raised feeding dish as well as this breed is prone to bloat.

If your pet is cleared for parasites and is eating well and not gaining weight, I would recommend that you discuss with your vet an Absorption Problem with regard to your dog. There is also a perscription diet made called Eukanuba Low Residue Diet that you may want to ask your vet about. This diet is made for both puppies and adult dogs.

Good luck to you and your pup.

Hopefully, it's not to late to help your dog. He needs a Vet., as soon as you can. Now if you can. Sounds like Parvo. Take your puppy to another Vet. If there is blood in the diarreah, then it is not a good sign. See another Vet.

OK, time to find a new vet!!! Diarrhea is NOT normal.. You need to have her checked for giardia and coccidia. Ask the NEW vet to run these 2 fecal test ASAP..

In the mean time, give her kaopectate every time she has it, give her 2cc (cherry flavored childrens or adult)

What brand of food are you feeding her? Try something with oatmeal like nutro chic rice and oatmeal, this is VERY easy on the tummy and intestines.

Email me if you want

give her kaopectate until the diarrhea stops.

Feed her cooked rice and nothing else for a couple of days. that will help her intestines heal. Then slowly add back her regular kibble with rice over a couple of days.

Feed high quality dog food that has lamb or chicken as the first ingredient listed on the package.

She remains very youthful or perhaps if she may be responsive to you do not choose her to chew on issues, it makes her tooth and gums experience sturdy! somebody asked you techniques many toys does she have? She would desire to have considered one of those toys! while my husky chews on my fabric cabinet or issues he shouldn't I snatch his nostril very firmly say no at a similar time as i glance in his eyes and that i provide him his bone or yet another toy that he can chew on. This works and he will chew on his bone or toy for variety of 10 minutes, then while i'm not finding he will bypass returned to the fabric cabinet, or no he is going to my Christmas tree, even although, it takes endurance and consistency. Locking him in his crate and ignoring him will additionally paintings. If my husky chews on some thing better than two times when I informed him no, I placed him on his leash and tie it on the door, the place he purely has a small area and that i turn my returned to him. Huskies like to play so by doing that and not giving my interest, he's responsive to that by chewing issues, he will lose his privilege to play with me, be unfastened interior the abode, and my interest. Be stern which includes your german Shepperd. he will learn finally. do not provide up.
