I used to live in the Salt lake city area, the winters were so bad for static electricity. A friend at the time told me to do this: take a static guard cling free dryer sheet to your head after it is almost dry from blow drying, rub all over your head and even down to the scalp, Finish blow drying and styling your hair. And, wa-law ! you have no static in your hair all day long + your head smells good too! I thought she was crazy nuts! I can say it has been one of the best advice I have ever gotten!

HERE IS THE SECRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOUNCE DRYER SHEETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What you do is, you get one fold it once or twice, then stick it in your BRA--then you take another one and before you brush your hair rub the sheet all in your hair--trust me it wont hurt your hair--then spray a little hairspray on your comb or brush and let it sit for a second or two then comb or brush your hair--if you see that you have some stubborn static then after brushing your hair take the bounce dryer sheet again and pat it on your hair. Trust me, it may sound stupid and goofy and may even look crazy but it has yet to let me down. Good luck with the static blues. And also, the dryer sheets will keep you smelling good all day long. p.s. you can reuse a sheet for a day or two at least until you see that it is not helping anymore then get a different sheet. Another thing, the GENERIC DRYER SHEETS do NOT work as well. BOUNCE IS THE BEST FOR THIS JOB!!!!!!!!

I have heard from friends that they had used fabric softner on their hair to reduce the static. They said it works but me being a bloke with short hair I don't get this problem!!!

I use Sunsilk. It's not specifically for static, but it works for me.
