It doesnt matter what other people think of your boyfriend, not everyone is lucky enough to have someone that they love so much and who loves them back, so dont throw it away because some people in your life dont approve. Youre worried about respecting them when they want you to end it with him, but how are they respecting you by always talking down to you about the man you love? You just need to make your own decisions. If hes what you want, dont let him go.. but if hes not what you want, maybe you should look around.

Well, first of all, it is your decision in the long run. Not anyone elses. I don't know how old you are, but if you are thinking about your future, just decide if he is someone that you would want to put up with for the rest of your life. Do you want to have a family with someone who does drugs and drinks all the time? If it doesn't bother you, and you really love him, then there's your answer. If you want something better for yourself (and your family and friends are probably just looking out for you), then I would end it now because the longer you wait, the more it will hurt.

Hope this helps!

DOn't worry about the 'others'. Do what you want, just tell them you know how they feel and you don't want to hear it anymore. But you should do some careful consideration about their concerns on your own. I'm sure you love and respect yourself and therefore wouldn't want to go down a road with someone whom you knew were doing you wrong. Also you may just get that "I told you so" one day from those 'others'. But you have to do what is right for you, not anyone else.
