playstation 2 a/v power cord help?

i bought a new one recently (the thing with 3 cords yellow red and white) that you put into your tv, except this new one came with 5 ones: blue, red, green, red, white in that order...and so when i plug in three of the five the screen comes out in black in white and not color...help

You bought a component cable kit, not a composite. Unless your TV has component inputs, this cable won't work. On component, each color (red, green, blue) comes into the set on a separate wire and shows a better picture on tv's equipped to support it. On composite, all the colors come in on the yellow wire.
